What Goes On

A Letter from Beatle Brunch Host, Joe Johnson

First of all, thank you for opening this e-newsletter and being fans and supporters of Beatle Brunch. You probably know that we just kicked into our 20th year. It’s great to go out to fests and concerts and meet fans who weren’t even around when the show began on May 31, 1992.

The number one question I get from listeners is, “how do you keep the shows fresh? You must run out of ideas.”

The answer is that The Beatles are constantly evolving even to this day. Sure, “Sgt. Pepper” is what it is, but even since its release in 1967, there have been remasters, TV specials, mono releases, cover versions and live versions of tracks by Paul and Ringo.

So while, yeah, The Beatles broke up more than 40 years ago, Paul was just named “The Best Live Act” and has added concert dates in the Midwest plus taken on the task of remastering and re-releasing his entire back catalog (read about that below), while Ringo continues to tour, record and paint. We just celebrated what would have been John’s 70th with the Lennon remasters that included bonus tracks and demos, plus the bio-pic on George is coming to a theater near you later this year.

So as you see, not All Things Must Pass, The Beatles remain an ever present part of our past today.

Cheers! See you at the Chicago Fest!

See the “Cloud”

Paul and HP have come together to build a digital library for his vast personal collection of photos, video, audio and memorabilia. The library brings decades of priceless assets into the digital realm and right to the fingertips of fans.

Over the next three years, HP will compress more than a million McCartney tracks, clips, photos, reviews, experiments and ephemera into a cloud-based collection the musician can access from anywhere in the world. That is light-years ahead of digging out old tapes from beneath his studio in England and literally baking them to reverse physical deterioration.
