Dear Joe
I actually saw the boys in 1964, live at
the Indianapolis fairgrounds - the night show. My family had
4th row, center seats that cost I believe $4 apiece. I used
to have the ticket stubs except for "that man",
whom I formerly called my father. He sat thru the entire show,
except for the performances by the other lame acts with his
ears covered and screaming to everyone in the stands to "SHUT
UP YOU IDIOTS!"
Then, in 1969, in a fit of purging, "that
man" threw away ALL of my memorabilia while I was away
at college. I had Beatle cards, mags, ALL of the original
Capitol 45's as well as some Vee-Jay's (sp?) and I think Deccas(?).
I also had a wig, boots and an AUTOGRAPHED, less Ringo's,
publicity photo courtesy of a radio (WIFE-AM) contest that
I won in 1964. Ringo was busy driving around the Indianapolis
500 speedway with a Indiana State trooper the night the other
3 signed. I always thought his missing autograph, with explanation,
may have made it even MORE precious. There were even a couple
of Poloroid snapshots that may mother, yes I still call HER
mother took of me, at age 13 accepting the prize package from
the dee-jay. She was equally outraged at "that man's"
action and I don't think they ever made love again (or at
least I hope not).
I would dearly love to win the current
DVD prize to relive the CBS-TV, 8pm, Sunday night's shows.
Again,
Thanks for listening to me ramble,
Doug A.
BTW... I don't really hate my father. - just his parents for
conceiving him! Oh wait... then I wouldn't be here, wouldn't
have ever seen the Beatles and wouldn't be now griping to
you! Maybe YOU hate his parents?
...Peace
