I wrote my first song in 1965. I was 16. I
played an acoustic 6 string Harmony and started to put more
songs onto reel to reel tapes. As years passed, the reel
to reel machines got better and my experiments sometimes
went overboard. A 12 string Harmony was a great addition
and eventually I got a 6 string electric and a bass. Finally
got the Rickenbacker 360-12 I always wanted and used it
on my version of The Byrds' "Bells Of Rhymney".
Then I sold it.
I put together a CD of my songs from 1976 to
1995 and called it "Home Groan". The majority
of this was taken from reel to reel. It was equalized and
edited onto a mini-disc. The end product was transferred
to CD. In March of 2007, I did a version of "Eleanor
Rigby". My latest effort, (Nov.Dec. 2007), is a Beatles
tribute called "Replica".
There are some eternal skeptics who feel The
Beatles are overrated. I guess they never felt extreme misery
at 15 when President Kennedy was killed. Depression, depression,
depression. Then ... WHAT'S THIS on the horizon? Buzz on
the radio----newspaper bits----Time---Newsweek----What's
this sound? Who plays what? New music! New singing! New
attitude! Look at them! Did you see them on Ed Sullivan
last night? WOW! That's exactly what we needed!
