May Pang
in the next
Live Chat Room,
Monday November 24th
Hey BBC members were looking forward
to you joining us for our third exclusive Beatle Brunch Club on-line
Live Chat, with May Pang.
May Fung Yee Pang (born October 24, 1950) is best known as the
former lover of ex-Beatle John Lennon. She had previously worked
as a personal assistant and production coordinator for Lennon and
his wife, Yoko Ono. In 1973, Lennon and Ono separated and Lennon
and Pang had a relationship that lasted over 18 months, which Lennon
later referred to as his "Lost Weekend." Pang produced
two books about their relationship: a memoir called Loving
John, (Warner, 1983), and a new book of photographs, Instamatic
Karma.
Pang was married to producer Tony Visconti from 1989 to 2000, and
had two children, Sebastian and Lara. May Pang is also designing
a new line of Feng Shui Jewelry
that is very nice, too!
Best known for the Badfinger Albums "No
Dice" and "Straight Up",
they was also featured on "The Concert for Bangla Desh".
Members of Badfinger were featured on "All Things Must Pass",
"It Don't Come Easy" and "Imagine".
Joey also has some great tunes that he sang with Badfinger including:
"Love Me Do", "Better Days" and "Watford
John" from the album "No Dice";
and "Flying", "I'd Die Babe". "Suitcase",
Sweet Tuesday Morning" and "Sometimes" from the album
"Straight Up". Give these
fine recordings a listen.
Hi Joe - I wanted to take a minute and personally thank you for
setting up the Live Chat with Laurence Juber for BBC members. I
own two of LJ's CDs and, of course, "Back To The Egg",
so I was well aware of his talents prior to the chat but was fascinated
to learn of the wide scope of his projects extending to musicals,
film soundtracks, etc. Laurence was very gracious to take time out
his busy schedule and field a flurry of questions from curious fans
like myself. Thanks again for providing the wonderful opportunity!
Looking forward to the chat with May Pang in November! - David
Pogue
Beatle
Brunch Club member Laura MacCoy
who listens to Beatle Brunch from Vernon, CT, was online in our
Live Chat Room with LJ. She was selected at random to win a copy
of "Haymans Green". Membership has its benefits! Thank
you to all of our Beatle Brunch Club Members who were online to
chat with the Guitar Virtuoso Laurence Juber!

Beatle
Brunch at the Fab Four Fest in Nashville
Special thanks to Brunch listener Carol
Ghesquire, who traveled all the way from the Motor City to
Music City and made a generous donation to the weekends charity,
The Community Resource Center.
Joe was on hand to host our Name That Beatle
Tune competition and the always entertaining, Beatles
Trivia contest.
This
Beatle event was centered around on the music of The Beatles and
starred some of the hottest names in the music world associated
with The Boys, including Badfinger member Joey
Molland; Joey got up with the band and did
"Baby Blue" and "No
Matter What" on his Gibson SG.
Gary Burr from Ringo and Carole Kings bands; singer-songwriter
Marshall Crenshaw; Chris
Huston of The Undertakers, one of the top Liverpool groups
in the early 60s; Bill Lloyd,
plus Beatle bands The WannaBeatles;
Louise Harrisons Liverpool Legends from
Branson Missouri; FAB, an amazing
local Nashville band that tore up the stage on Friday night, and
the Beatles Tribute band, The Long
Players, who did the entire Abbey Road album from start
to finish on Saturday night.
Fans had a chance to meet and chat with Johns
former girlfriend May Pang, who
was there to sign copies of her new book, Instamatic
Karma and debut her personal line of Feng
Shui Jewelry. Also on hand, Ringos former fiancé
Nancy Lee Andrews, Joeys wife Kathy
Molland, and Louise Harrison,
Georges sister. They spoke on the topic, The Women Behind
The Beatles.
We met up with Beatle Brunch fans from 94.3
The Eagle in Clarksville, Tenn. Dennis
Adkins, Joe Kraeske, and Sheryl Garner.
Joe moderated a panel of Beatles Journalists
including Ed Salamon, who has interviewed
dozens of Beatle celebrities, plus Seth
Swirsky, who is finishing up a new film on The Beatles called
A Year in the Life and Chet
Flippo, former senior editor for Rolling Stone Magazine..
Here
